Recorded in April 1979 at Strawberry Studios, Stockport.
The famous sleeve design was done by Peter Saville, but it was Bernard who found the picture used on the front: "100 consecutive pulses from the pulsar CP 1919". Released in June 1979 in Europe and July 1980 in the US.
The album has been re-released several times. The 2007 CD release includes a bonus disc with live tracks recorded at the Factory on July 13th 1979.

Recorded in March 1980 at Britannia Row Studios, Islington, London.
Planned for UK release in May 1980 but was delayed until July. Released in December 1980 in the US. The cover artwork comes from the Staglieno Cemetery in Genova, Italy.
The album has been re-released several times. The 2007 CD release includes a bonus disc with live tracks recorded at the University of London Union on February 8th 1980.

Still features previously unused studio material and a live recording of Joy Division's last concert. Originally planned for release in August, it was eventually released on October 8th 1981. The CD version was released in March 1990. A number of the studio recordings have "added post production", including over-dubs by the surviving members of the band.
The album has been re-released several times. The 2007 CD release includes a bonus disc with live tracks recorded at the Town Hall, High Wycombe on February 20th 1980.
