José Lopez and María Gavira of Casares, Spain went to live in Gibraltar where they settled and had children:

born 17th August 1827, baptised 8th September 1827 in Gibraltar. Godparents: José de los Santos and María Cano

born: 1822 in San Roque, Spain. Died 11th August 1894, Gibraltar. On his death certificate, he is shown as a tobacconist who died of old age. He is buried in the North Front cemetery, grave number 2007, in plot K.

Pedro and María married in Gibraltar at the church of Santa María la Coronada on 2nd July 1849.
The witnesses were Antonio Marengo and José Marengo

On the Gibraltar 1891 census -
District 24 House 28 Hargreaves Parade - José is listed as the head of the household, a widower, 41 yrs,
carpenter, employed. Also living there:
his
father Pedro, a widower aged 69, his daughters Maria aged 16 and Emilia aged 11, and his sons Esteban aged 14 and
Alberto aged 7. This is a postcard José sent to his son to wish him a happy Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately

José died before his son Alberto's marriage in 1927. On Alberto's marriage certificate, José is shown as deceased, formerly a carpenter.
José married María Antonia Forbes§ on 5th December 1874. María's parents were José Forbes and Ignacia Pinella.
The witnesses were Pedro Lopez and Juan Pinna.
María Antonia died before the 1891 census leaving her very young children.
José remarried - Josefa. Josefa wrote this postcard to Stephen.

born some time between 18th June and 2nd November 1884, worked as a carpenter. Married Caroline Louise Britto [née Jones] (known as Cissie) who was a widow with a son, on 18th June 1927 at the Gibraltar register office. At the time he was 42 years old and a painter and Cissie was 35. Her father was William Jones (deceased), who was a Publican in England. They were both living at 27 Castle Ramp. The witnesses at the marriage were Alfred J. Dyer and José Lopez.
Alberto died on 2nd November 1970 at St Bernard's hospital, Gibraltar, aged 87. He died of bronchopneumonia, cardiac failure and anaemia.
