The Allen Family

Possibly:
John Allen § m Ann Sparks § on 30th April 1786 in Sevenoaks, Kent. They had 11 children between 1786 and 1804, all baptised in Sevenoaks. They include George, baptised 18th Nov 1798 and Thomas baptised October 1800. We know that George Allen (below) had a brother, Thomas, and that these baptism dates tie in closely with the census information we have. George names two of his children John and Ann - another suggestion that this couple is indeed their parents. Thomas Allen's marriage certificate shows that his (and therefore his brother George's) father was John Allen, a weaver.

George Allen§born about 1799 son of John Allen §, a weaver, married to Mary Friend§ who was born about 1802.

1841 census: George (an ag. lab.), Mary and their 6 children are living at Dibden Bottom Sevenoaks

Two years after her mother's death, Emily appears on the 1951 census. She is living with her widowed father, still at Dibden Bottom, also with brothers Joseph (12), John (10) and Thomas (6). At the age of 29 she has full responsibility for the household. In 1855 she marries her widowed uncle, Thomas - a move which was - and still is - illegal. Forever afterwards their census returns are confusing!
