of cancer of the liver, from which he had suffered for two years and peritonitis for 42 hours. His death was registered
by E. Allen, shown as his sister-in-law (actually his late wife's aunt).

Johana 10 months.

along with her siblings: James 14, Henry 6,(1865) Eliza Ann 4 (1867) and Caroline 1 (1870) . Where is Johana?
1881 census: Elizabeth Lock is a cook for the Simpson family of 16 Kent
Terrace St Marylebone, London.
Shortly afterwards she and William Alexander marry.

1891 census she is head of the family living Swingbridge House back with Sarah, Alfred, John and Mona as well as
Emily Allen. They are all laundresses apart from John who is a printer's apprentice and Mona who has no occupation
listed.

1901 census: single, aged 39, laundress and employer working at home: B Swingbridge House, Wandsworth. Living with
her are Alfred and Eleanor as well as aunt Emily Allen.

Found on 1901 census - John J Alexander, a compositor printer, married
to Mary Ellen, aged 25, who was born in Scotland and with a son, William Donald Alexander, aged 1. They were living at 104 Allfarthing Lane, Wandsworth.

John Joseph Alexander married Mary Ellen / Helen Donald, a housemaid, on 7th September 1899
in Seafield, Banff, Scotland. She was the daughter of William Donald,
a fencer at the time of their marriage, and Helen (née Clark).
Mary was born on 20th June 1875 at 12.40pm in Cullen, Seafield Street
(?). At the time her father was a a ploughman.
William Donald and Helen Clark married on 25th November 1871 in Rachwen? Banff. He was a farm servant at the time,
aged 22 (therefore born 1849) and she was 23 (therefore born 1848). William was the son of James
Donald, a labourer, and Margaret, née McLay(?) and
was a labourer. Helen was the daughter of John Clark and Margaret, née Coull (deceased). Adam Coull was a witness at their wedding.

Whiten Geary, a 25 year old police constable, son of Charles Murray Geary,
a deceased shop keeper. Their address at marriage was 21 Milner Road and they married at Thornton Heath parish
church, Surrey. Their witnesses were Arthur Barber, Mona's brother-in-law and Rose
Geary.
