
Joy Division headlined the opening of Tony Wilson's club The Factory. Other acts included The Tiller Boys, Durutti
Column and Cabaret Voltaire. JD impressed everybody, and Nigel Bagley said in 1982: "They [Joy Division] stuck
out as being so much better [than Warsaw]...No one was
really interested in Warsaw. Then all of a sudden it was Joy Division. I would say that this is really were Joy
Division started."
